Spine Mobility - Use This Move To Free Up Your Spine

Hey welcome back to our postural series.

I hope after that last video, you all went out and bought a foam roller and have been crushing those stiff segments in your upper back. If not, go NOW! I'll be here when you get back--better yet, watch this video while you are driving to the store. WAIT! Scratch that idea.

So we are breaking up the components that make up some of our biggest postural issues. We started with our upper back and shoulders. We will continue into our shoulder blades and neck in the next few weeks.

We don't often think about the different types of motion that our spine allows us. We often think of flexion and extension and neglect side bending and rotation. Thoracic rotation is huge though! It is what helps us throw, hit a golf ball, check our blind spot and a million other things that we do every day!

It gets restricted often with tight pecs and shoulders. This is a great move to help us both open up those tight muscles but also work that thoracic rotation component that is often missed.

This rotational componet goes way back to the fundamental ways we learned how to move as infants. It amazes me sometimes how much I refer back to children as the Gold Standard of movement. Their tissues haven't been corrupted by desks, high heel shoes and computer screens.
