March Athlete of the Month - Lindsay McClellan

If you’re looking for Lindsay McClellan, you may find her at Orangetheory Fitness, working out at Omnicut or running outside with a group of friends. She finds the best way to stay fit is to do a combination of different activities.

“I love the variety and the different sets of ‘workout friends,’” she says.

Lindsay is a 45-year-old mother of three and a CPA who runs her own consulting firm that serves clients in whatever capacity they need, and she exercises for a variety of reasons.

“I exercise to feel strong, to clear my head, to relieve stress and to have the energy I need to keep up with my kids.”

In fact, keeping up with her kids is one of her proudest accomplishments.

“I hope I am teaching them that being healthy is a life-long commitment and feeling strong and healthy is worth the effort.”

Growing up, Lindsay had her heart set on a different career path.

“I absolutely love horse racing. All I ever wanted to be was a jockey. My dad finally had to tell me I was a little too tall and probably needed a ‘plan B.’”

While she admits she will probably never ride in the Kentucky Derby, she may eventually try dog sledding.

Lindsay has great advice for getting those workouts in.

“On the days you do not feel like going to the gym or taking that class or lacing up your running shoes, just go. Tell yourself you can walk or take it easy and once you get there, I bet you will be ready to exercise. Sometimes the hardest part of a workout is just starting.”
